I’m a Cambridge-based British artist specialising in shodō Japanese calligraphy.
In 2015, while living in Yokohama, Japan, I started taking lessons in Japanese calligraphy from an award-winning tutor.
During my time in Japan my artworks were exhibited in group exhibitions in prominent art galleries in Japan, on one occasion receiving an award (see below).
As my skill improved, I began to take commissions from friends and family members. In 2019 I started selling ready-made and custom-made works to clients.
I have since returned to the U.K. where I continue to practice Japanese calligraphy. In keeping with my tutor’s wishes, it is my aim to share this beautiful and traditional Japanese art with a Western audience.

My work has been exhibited seven times in group exhibitions at prominent art galleries in Japan.
I exhibited primarily at the MaiNichi Shodō-Ten (MaiNichi Calligraphy Exhibition) and the DokuRitsu Shodō-Ten (DokuRitsu Calligraphy Exhibition), two of Japan’s major national calligraphy exhibitions. The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and The National Art Center Tokyo, respectively, host these two exhibitions every year.
